Blackout 2003; Summer�s Sexiest/ Apagon del 2003; Los Mas Sexy del Verano

You know, sometimes it seems we�re a little blas� about things in New York, but really? Nothing seems like a huge deal after 9/11. I mean sure we didn�t have electricity and we had to walk a bit and put up with each other. But I�ll take that over a terrorist attack any day.

I was sitting at the office, on the internet shopping for a new vibrator instead of being hard at work when the lights started flickering and then went out. These are old buildings and I work in the Fashion District building, you know the one with the big needle and button statue up front? We waited to hear an announcement, and but nothing. Luckily, the Boss Lady�s husband had insisted she keep a battery operated radio with her after 9/11 and we got the news of the blackout, and then of the severity.

We left the office about 5 and made our way down to 2nd Avenue. When we got down to about 18th Street, we saw a girl hanging a sign out the window: �Williamsburg.�

I called out, �Hey! You got room for two more?!� She nodded yes and in we went. It still took us about 3 hours to get home. Also, as we were driving down the LES, we bought beer and ice cream (I know, I know) and had it while we waited for our turn to get onto Delancey, which only took about an hour. THANK YOU ERIN! You are the best damn driver. BW and I are going to take her out for drinks once all this mess is over. New York did, what it does best, pull together and throw a party! LOL. The beer and champagne had to be drunk and all the food eaten before it went bad, so it was!

We got home, showered, put on bikinis and went up to the roof and watched the sunset. It was quite a site. And the best surprise of all: the stars. Stars in New York City! And shooting starts to top it off!

I took the next day in stride, I just pretended I was in Mexico�and it was summer. So we had all the windows open, I freshened up the apartment by cleaning it in the morning and I made rose water out of some birthday flowers to keep us cool. We took a siesta during the hottest part of the day, and a couple of hours after that we heard the cheers coming from all around. Electricity was back up!

Sabes? Aveces parese que somos un poco indeferentes sobre cosas en Nueva York. Realmente, nada parece gran cosa despues del 11 de septiembre. De seguro no teniamos electricidad y tuvimos que caminar un copo y soportarnos. Pero a dado caso prefiero eso a un ataque de terroristas.

Estaba en la oficina, buscando un vibrador para comprar en la red en vez de estar trabajando duro como debia cuando las luzes comensaron a palpatear. Estos edificios son viejos y yo trabajo en el edificio Fasion District, tu sabes el que tiene la gran estatua de la aguja y el botton en frente? Esperamos a que hicieran un anuncio, pero nada. De suerte, el esposo de La Patrona habia insistido que depues del 11 de septiembre cargara un radio operado por bateria, asi que tuvimos noticias del apagon, y de la seriedad de el.

Salimos de la officina como a las 5 y nos allamos hasta 2nd Avenue. Cuando como por 18th Stree, vimos a una chica con un letrero por la ventana: �Williamsburg.�

Grite, �Heyt! Tienes campo para otras dos?!� Asentio con la cabeza y nos subimos. Aun asi nos tomo como 3 horas para llegar a casa. Y tambien, mientras pasabamos por el LES, compramos cerbeza y nieve (ya se, ya se) para comer mientras esperabamos nuestro turno a dar vuelta a la calle Delancey, que solo nos tomo una hora. GRACIAS ERIN! Tu eres la conductadora mas condenada! BW y yo la vamos a llevar de paranda cuando pase todo este lio. Nueva York hiso lo que hace mejor, juntarse y echar una fiesta! RISAS. Habia que tomar la cerbeza y champagna antes de que se echara a perder, asi que fue lo que se iso!

Llegamos a casa, duchamos, donamos bikinis y subimos al techo para ver la puesta del sol. Que resplendo. Y la mejor sorpresa: las estrellas. Estrellas en la ciudad de Nueva York! Y estrellas fugaz encima de todo!

El siguiente dia lo tome con calma, solo pretendi que estaba en Mexico�en verano. Asi que teniamos todas las ventanas abiertas y ise agua de rosas con unas de las flores de cumpleanos para poder refrescarnos. Tomamos siesta durante la parte mas calorosa del dia, y unas dos horas depues oimos las porras por todos lados. Regreso la electricidad!
